2024.5 EVS Hydrogen receives high-profile visit
The managing directors of EVS-Elektronik and EVS-Hydrogen GmbH, Walter Seidl and Günther Kneidinger, were honored to welcome a distinguished visitor to their offices in Untergriesbach. Mohamed Al Said, a member of the Omani royal family, visited to discuss the scope of development and technology, as well as potential collaboration opportunities. Mr. Al Said is a dynamic entrepreneur active worldwide, with a particular focus on renewable energies. The hydrogen combustion engines developed by EVS-Hydrogen GmbH had already generated considerable interest during an initial meeting several weeks prior. A visit to Untergriesbach was then arranged at short notice, allowing Mr. Al Said to witness the hydrogen engines in operation. Key topics of discussion included the diverse applications of hydrogen combustion engines (e.g., combined heat and power plants, agricultural machinery, energy conversion, compressors, construction equipment, etc.) and the possibility of future cooperation. The hydrogen combustion engines from EVS Hydrogen GmbH, which were recently exhibited at the Hannover Messe and the energy fair in Muscat (Oman), are generating considerable interest not only from Mr. Mohamed Al Said but also from the Omani Ministry of Energy. Oman intends to use hydrogen combustion engines, among other things, for feeding energy into the local power grid.
The Omani entrepreneur was particularly impressed by the engines' multi-fuel capability. This means that the engines can be powered not only by hydrogen but also, for example, by biogas or natural gas, as well as by liquid fuels such as methanol or gasoline. This multi-fuel capability also allows operation during periods of technological transition (from gasoline or methanol to hydrogen or other gaseous fuels). At the end of the visit, Mr. Mohamed Al Said extended an invitation to visit Oman, which Mr. Seidl and Mr. Kneidinger will accept in the coming months.
